How should real estate agents use Facebook?

Use a Facebook Page to stay in touch with your sphere: past clients, neighbors and the friends of friends who send referrals. It has the widest reach in social media, with 71% of US adults on Facebook in Pew Research Center’s 2025 survey, and it rewards the longer, warmer posts that feel out of place elsewhere.

Market updates, open house invitations, just-sold stories and neighborhood news all fit here, and an album of twenty photos is normal on Facebook rather than too much. Links in Page posts are clickable, so a listing post can send people straight to the property page.

Velisto publishes to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles, because Facebook only lets apps post to Pages. If you boost a listing post, Meta requires it to run under the housing Special Ad Category, which limits targeting. Velisto handles the organic posts; ads stay in Meta’s tools. Our guide to real estate social media marketing covers where Facebook fits alongside the other channels.

CHOOSE YOUR FORMAT

Room for
the whole story.

Page posts

Advice, market updates and business news, with a clickable link and a preview card when you add one.

Multi-photo posts

Up to 20 photos in one post, so a whole home or a neighborhood walk stays together.

Reels & videos

Property videos made from your photos. Vertical videos play as Reels on Facebook; landscape videos play in the feed.

Stories

Image or video Stories for an open house, a price change or a new listing.

WHAT TO POST ON FACEBOOK

Write for your neighbors,
not only your buyers.

Facebook is where your sphere sees you between transactions. Share seller guidance and market context for the people who will refer you, and let each listing carry its full description, because a Facebook caption can run as long as the story needs.

HOW FACEBOOK PUBLISHING WORKS

From Velisto
to your Page.

  1. 01

Connect the Page, not your profile

Facebook lets apps publish to Pages, not personal timelines. Sign in with an account that has admin or posting access, and tick each Page by name when Facebook asks which ones to share.

  2. 02

    Write the Facebook version

Longer captions work here, and the listing link stays clickable. Add alt text to photos and queue a first comment, which on Facebook can carry an image such as a floor plan.

  3. 03

    Schedule it once

Page connections don’t expire on a timer. If Facebook withdraws access after a password or role change, Velisto marks the Page for reconnection and emails you, so a missed post doesn’t go unnoticed.

What do I need to connect my Facebook Page?

You need admin or posting access to the Page. In Velisto, open Workspace settings → Social profiles, choose Facebook, and approve access to the Pages you want to connect. Follow the Facebook connection guide if a Page is missing.

Why doesn’t my Facebook Page appear in Velisto?

Usually because Facebook’s “Opt in to all current and future Pages” option was chosen, which shares Pages without naming them. Reconnect, choose “Opt in to current Pages only” and tick each Page. If it still doesn’t appear, check that your role on the Page lets you post.

Can I post a Facebook Story for an open house?

Yes. Velisto publishes image and video Stories to your Page. Use a vertical design with the date, time and address on it, and schedule it for the morning of the open house.

Can I add a comment with more details or a photo?

Yes. Queue a first comment, posted right away or up to a day later. On Facebook it can include one image, which suits a floor plan or a second angle of the property.

Can Velisto publish to Facebook personal profiles, Groups, or Marketplace?

Velisto publishes to Facebook Pages you manage. Publishing to personal Facebook profiles, Groups, and Marketplace is not supported. Connect your business Page to publish and schedule its content alongside your other channels.

Does Velisto manage Facebook Ads?

Velisto handles organic content for your Page: creation, publishing, scheduling, and available analytics. Paid campaigns, budgets, and targeting are managed separately in Meta’s advertising tools.
